2021 | BRAND IDENTITY | VISUAL SYSTEM | WEBSITE DESIGN
Kiteworks is a cybersecurity and compliance company that helps organizations govern, protect, and track sensitive information across multiple communication channels. I led the development of its brand identity, including the logo, visual direction, and the system used across its marketing communications.
THE CHALLENGE
Before becoming Kiteworks, the company operated as Accellion. In late 2020 and early 2021, cyberattacks targeted vulnerabilities in its legacy File Transfer Appliance. Although the Kiteworks platform was unaffected and operated on a separate codebase, the incident created an urgent need to distinguish the company’s future from its legacy technology.
The challenge extended beyond reputation. Kiteworks was already the product name customers recognized, while Accellion no longer represented the company’s evolving services or strategic direction. The business needed a clearer identity that could strengthen customer confidence, support its focus on secure content communications, and communicate its role in regulatory compliance and risk management.
The rebrand needed to be more than a new name and logo. It required a cohesive visual system that could represent a renewed strategy, work consistently across global communications, and give the organization a credible foundation for its next stage of growth.
THE RESULT
The result was a clear and scalable identity supported by a consistent logo, typography, color palette, graphic language, imagery direction, layouts, and reusable templates.
Over six years, the system has been applied and developed across global campaigns, publications, presentations, event environments, digital content, and video storyboards. This created a stronger visual foundation, improved consistency across channels, and made it easier for the team to produce new materials as the company continued to grow. Kiteworks has also reached unicorn status after securing $456 million in funding from Insight Partners and Sixth Street Growth. The investment values the cybersecurity company, known for protecting sensitive data across email, file sharing, and other communication channels, at more than $1 billion.
